Woman Speaks Out Against Kenneth Petty
Nearly 30 years ago, the husband of Nicki Minaj was convicted for raping a woman – and now, despite the couple’s alleged attempts to silence her, that woman is sharing her story.
Appearing on an episode of “The Real” on Wednesday, 22 September, Jennifer Hough discussed her rape at the hands of Kenneth Petty, who at 15-years-old was convicted in 1995, a year after it occurred.
Hough, who recently filed a lawsuit against Petty and the “Anaconda” rapper over alleged harassment and intimidation tactics, said: “I feel like the actions that were taken in regards to this whole situation put me in a different type of fear at my age now … The only way not to be afraid is to continue to speak up.”
Asked if Minaj’s claims that Hough – then 16-years-old – and Petty were in a relationship at the time of the incident, Hough answered: “It was a lie … we were never in a relationship. I just felt – woman to woman – that was wrong of [Minaj].”
Hough is seeking a trial by jury, as well as statutory damages and attorney’s fees.
Petty and Minaj have yet to comment on the lawsuit.
